Tall Women Get The Short of It

True date story!
My attempt at speed-dating fell short when I attended tall man speed dating event.
Excited at the prospect of not having to soothe a short man’s ego with flats and to show off my gorgeous legs, I optimistically pulled out a sassy pair of 3-inch heels from the dusty corners of my closet. One classic black dress later and I was off.
The tall and the short of it is, I’m 5’9 without heels and shoeless I would have been the tallest gal there. Expectations dashed and many short men later, I put my fab shoes back in the box and never attended another speed dating event again.
Not so fun facts can explain my height-conscious dating woes.
Tall men only make up 10% of the population, and since most women desire men the taller the better, demand is high and supply is low.
What I could never understand was why super tall guys seem to date and marry petite women. That seemed terribly unfair given the romantic male to female size ratio portrayed in every perfect Hollywood movie.
Turns out, it isn’t just the women wanting to feel small and protected in the embrace of a tall man, tall men like their women small and petite. it makes them feel powerful, masculine and strong.
The left overs?
Short men for tall gals… sigh.
